4 09 2008

Tropical Storm Josephine, part of the trio of storms currently churning up the Atlantic, is weak and not a threat to land at this time.

As of 5 p.m. EDT, Tropical Storm Josephine is centered near 14.6 N, 33.2 W. This places the storm about 590 miles west of the southernmost Cape Verde Islands or more than 3,000 miles east-southeast of Miami. Josephine is moving to the west-northwest at 10 mph.

Maximum sustained winds are 45 mph, and its minimum pressure is estimated to be 1002 mb or 29.59 inches.

Tropical Storm Josephine will continue in this west-northwest direction over the next few days. However, it would not reach the Leeward Islands until the middle of next week at the earliest. Forecast projections have Josephine weakening and turning the northwest before then.
